Partnerships

To promote deeper understanding of the GIS technology and to help advance GIS science and technology with respect to atmospheric science, the NCAR GIS Initiative formed strategic partnerships with the Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) and the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC).

The goals of NCAR-ESRI partnership include advancing GIS technical methods and technologies; exploring the development of atmospheric information and models within GIS domains; working jointly and fulfilling research and application projects; and supporting education and developing educational materials for a variety of audiences associated with GIS and atmospheric science.

Memorandum of Understanding between the National Center of Atmospheric Research (NCAR) and the Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) [~ 69 KB]

The goal of the NCAR-OGC partnership is to work together to accelerate the development of OGC technology within the atmospheric sciences and to extend OGC specifications to include the geospatial processing needs of the atmospheric community.

NCAR/UCAR and the OGC have established Memorandum of Understanding. For more information about this partnership contact GISsupport at ucar.edu.
