Using NARCCAP data in ArcGIS 9.3 - Seth McGinnis

NARCCAP, the North American Regional Climate Change Assessment > Program, is generating ~60 TB of high-resolution climate change > scenario data by running multiple regional climate models (RCMs) > driven by multiple global climate models (GCMs) and by observed (NCEP) > data. The program has a significant focus on usability and support for > the impacts assesment community, and so GIS compatibility has been a > priority. NARCCAP data is stored in CF-compliant NetCDF format, and as > of ArcGIS v. 9.3 (currently in beta), CF-compliance gives you GIS > compatibility for free -- if you can get all the metadata correct. > Seth McGinnis, an Associate Scientist in ISSE, is half of the QC team, > the User Community Manager, and the NCAR Data Manager for NARCCAP. He > will talk about NARCCAP, lessons learned about CF compliance and GIS > compatibility, map projections and metadata, and meeting the needs of > the user community.
