GIS User Group - June 13th

Everyone is welcome! Whether you have been using GIS for years, just learning, or wanting to learn the UCAR GIS User Group (UGUG) will have something for you. These meetings provide a forum for networking, education, and fun.

The UCAR GIS User Group will meet the second Wednesday of each month.

Distribution of Climate Change and downscaled outputs in GIS

Nate Wilhelmi (SCD), Tim Hoar (IMAGe) and Olga Wilhelmi (ISSE) will be talking about development of the GIS climate change scenarios project and the data portal ( http://www.gisclimatechange.org ), including ongoing work to generate and distribute downscaled outputs from the CCSM to the GIS users.
Olga will give a project overview and discuss users needs in climate change data.
Nate will discuss the tools and technologies behind the GIS climate change portal (J2EE application technologies, application design, dynamic data conversion process, shapefile libraries and ArcIMS implementation)
Tim will present a statistical downscaling method using PRISM (Parameter-elevation Regressions on Independent Slopes Model) dataset and linear regression algorithm for downscaling monthly averages of temperature and precipitation.
