GIS in Weather, Climate and Impacts Workshop 2002
Workshop Home Page The GIS in Weather, Climate and Impacts workshop was held on 12-14 August 2002 at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado. The goals of the workshops were:
The workshop program included plenary sessions and panel discussions that not only reviewed current and potential use of GIS in meteorology and climatology, but also addressed issues of users' needs, data interoperability, and visualization. Interdisciplinary topics such as "GIS in meteorological hazards and extremes" and "GIS in climate variability and change: from models to adaptation" formed the basis for working groups. The discussions focused on a range of topics from data creation to societal impacts and information dissemination. The workshop format provided many opportunities for interactions among the workshop participants. In addition to sessions and panel discussions, there was state-of-the-art GIS software demonstrations, poster presentations, and a reception. |
